Asian Football Confederation is the governing body of football in Asia, excluding Cyprus and Israel but including Australia. AFC has 47 member countries that the majority located in Asia. AFC was founded on May 8, 1954 in Manila, Philippines and is one of six continental confederations of FIFA. FIFA recognizes the AFC since June 21, 1954.
AFC headquarters are in the AFC House, Jalan 1/155, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The current president is Salman Bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa of Bahrain. Countries which have regions in Europe and Asia, such as Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Russia, incorporated into the UEFA, as well as Armenia, Cyprus, and Israel, the entire territory lies in Asia. On the other hand, Australia, which earlier in the OFC, have now entered the Asian Football Confederation since 2006, and the islands of Oceania from Guam, U.S. territory, is also a member of the AFC.
AFC Region AFC is divided into four regions. Here is shown how the national teams in Asia is divided into regions (but does not have to be part of a regional football federations in the region). As a rule, due to cultural restrictions, only the ASEAN and East Asian region which has a team of women.
